As of the 2019 Census Estimate, St. Lucie County has a population of 328,297. St. Lucie County is included in the Port St. Lucie, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Port St. Lucie, FL Combined Statistical Area.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 688 square miles (1,780 km²), of which 572 square miles (1,480 km²) is land and 116 square miles (300 km²) (16.9%) is water.
